James Worpel is officially one of the best U22 players in the league.

The Hawks midfielder was named in the 2019 22 Under 22 team, after a breakout season that saw him play every game and average 27 disposals.

Worpel was named on the interchange following a fans’ vote, in a team that featured the likes of All Australian Harris Andrews, premiership Eagle Liam Ryan and number one draft pick Sam Walsh.

The 20-year-old was one of the most consistent Hawks across the course of the season, leading his teammates in disposals (584), contested possessions (265), defensive half pressure acts (239) and total clearances (139).

His best performance arguably came in Round 22, when he notched up 34 disposals and two goals in the win over Gold Coast.
