In recognition of our 20-year partnership with Tasmania, we have taken a look back at some of our favourite memories down in Launceston.

Join us as we revisit so many great moments over the past two decades, counting down from 20 to 1.

Round 17 2019 vs Fremantle

Hawthorn 12.12 84 def. Fremantle 8.5 53

It became known as the Launceston Launch around the world. Well, perhaps that’s getting a bit carried away. But on this day in 2019, Tim O’Brien rose high on the grandstand-side wing of UTAS Stadium to pluck a brilliant mark from the sky.

Birch gets pranked at a press conference

He held out for as long as he could but, in the end, Grant Birchall just couldn’t quite hold a straight face as he was peppered with some curly questions in this hilarious prank at a press conference during the 2017 Tasmania Community Camp.

Round 3 2015 vs Western Bulldogs

Hawthorn 19.13 127 def. Western Bulldogs 8.9 57

The Hawks kicked off their threepeat campaign season with an usual opening fortnight, handing Geelong a 62-point Easter Monday demolition in their season opener before falling to an Essendon side that would finish the year in 15th spot. Alastair Clarkson’s side needed a steadier and what better place to go and find one than in Launceston. At that point, the Hawks had won their past 11 games at the venue with the Dogs being the victims in two of those matches. With a game there to be won, enter captain Luke Hodge and his ultimate successor Jarryd Roughead. The two pillars of the club went to another level on this day, combining for a ridiculous 72 disposals (Hodge having 44 of these and Roughy 28) and nine goals (seven to Rough and two to Hodge). The Hawks coasted to a 70-point victory and it was Hodge who won the tight tussle for the three Brownlow votes.
