Hawks ruckman Ned Reeves is set to make his AFL debut against Carlton this Saturday.

Reeves has earned his call-up following an impressive block of form at VFL level, having consistently been praised by Box Hill Coach Sam Mitchell as the “dominant ruckman on the ground” in recent outings.

Standing at 211cm tall, Reeves has made enormous strides in his development this year, his third season in the brown and gold.

In the moments following Alastair Clarkson informing him of his debut on Thursday afternoon, Reeves struggled to contain his excitement at being the club's fourth debutant of 2021.

“It’s pretty crazy, I don’t really know what to feel yet but I’m sure it will sink in soon,” Reeves said.

“It was pretty awesome having all the boys get around me.

“I just want to play my role and really compete hard when I’m in the ruck and give the best service to the mids as possible.

“I think one of my strengths is my hit-out to advantage, especially around the centre bounce, that’s been something I’ve been pretty proud of, so hopefully I can bring that on Saturday and we can get a good result.”

The Hawks will face Carlton at 1.45pm this Saturday.
