There are two confirmed spots in the Hawks side up for the grabs ahead of the Round 11 Sir Doug Nicholls Round clash against Gold Coast.

With Jaeger O'Meara (concussion) and Kyle Hartigan (suspension) already ruled out, Hawks fans will be watching with interest to see how the match committee opts to replace the important midfielder and the key defender who has featured in all 10 of the Hawks games so far this year.

So, who will be in the conversation?

Having sat out the last month with an ankle injury, Shaun Burgoyne may be set to give the Hawks a boost this weekend.

Burgoyne will be looking to press his claims in the club's final training session of the week ahead of the game on Saturday night.

Liam Shiels was the subject of a late change ahead of last week's match-up with Carlton, citing neck soreness.

With a week of recovery now under his belt, the three-time premiership player would also prove a valuable addition to the Hawks side as it hunts a return to the winners' list.

Michael Hartley and Tim O'Brien manned Box Hill's two key defensive posts in Box Hill's win over Carlton on Sunday, with the pair's names also likely to be raised as possible solutions to Hartigan's absence.

Promising youngster Emerson Jeka was a force in the air in the victory, claiming 13 marks to go with his two goals.

VFL Coach Sam Mitchell said he was impressed with the key forward's overall performance.

"His defensive intent was much better this week. I loved his selfless attitude, handing a couple of goals off while still kicking a couple himself," Mitchell said.

Josh Morris was the unused medical substitute in the senior side's Round 10 match-up last week.

Mitchell also commended the attitude of Morris, who backed up the following day with Box Hill as a "strong performer".
