The AFL has shifted this weekend’s Hawthorn-Melbourne match to 7.25pm on Saturday night in response to the state’s lockdown restrictions.

The game was originally scheduled to kick off at 4.35pm.

The change is required in order to facilitate the Saints-Power clash and those sides’ respective consequential fixturing.

The Hawks’ meeting with the Demons will now be broadcast free-to-air on Channel 7.

Hawthorn CEO Justin Reeves said the club understood the need for a fixture change.

“While we were eagerly looking forward to seeing our loyal brown and gold members in the crowd, the health and safety of our community will always remain our number one priority,” Reeves said.

"We are pleased that the match will now be broadcast free to air on Channel 7 as well as on Foxtel and Kayo meaning more of the brown and gold family can tune in to Saturday night's game."
