David Hale

After serving as a line coach for the past three seasons, David Hale will move into the role of Assistant Coach - Strategy & Opposition in 2026.

This marks a direct swap of roles between Hale and David Mackay, who will serve as Midfield Coach next year. 

Hale has been pivotal in leading Hawthorn’s forwards in 2022, as well as its engine room in 2023-2025, which has seen the growth of several players in the brown and gold. 

The three-time premiership Hawk notched up 108 games and proved a vital part of the club’s premiership three-peat from 2013 to 2015 following 129 games at North Melbourne.

After his retirement in 2015, Hale spent six seasons at Fremantle as an assistant coach before returning to Hawthorn.
