Exciting news, Hawks fans!

Lachlan Bramble will remain a Hawk until at least the end of 2023.

Having been selected by the Hawks in this year’s pre-season supplemental selection period (SSP), Bramble made the most of his AFL opportunity in 2021.

Following a string of stand-out performances at VFL level with Box Hill, Bramble was called upon for his AFL debut in Round 14 against Essendon and, from there, he never looked back.

The 23-year-old featured in the remaining 10 games of the year, coming into his own on the Hawks half-back line.

Hawks farewell five

The dashing defender averaged 18.3 disposals across his 10 appearances as well as an incredible 2.1 bounces per game, which ranked fourth league-wide.

Head of Football Rob McCartney said Bramble was one of the feel-good stories for the Hawks in season 2021.

“Lachy’s is a really good story of resilience and determination,” McCartney said.

“He’d been overlooked in a number of drafts prior to this year, but his work across the pre-season with Box Hill really demanded our attention and we were compelled to pick him up in the pre-season draft.

“He really earned his chance at senior footy in the middle stages of the year and then went from strength to strength in the back half and showed our fans a really exciting, skilful brand of footy.

“We’re really pleased to be able to reward him with another two years.”
