After a close loss against Collingwood, Hawthorn will be looking to turn things around when it takes on Fremantle this Saturday at Optus Stadium.

If the Hawks win this weekend, it will mark the club's 1000th VFL/AFL win.

The Dockers host their second home game inside six days, while it will be Hawthorn's first match at Optus Stadium in more than 12 months.

The Hawks currently have a 3-3 record at the venue, but have lost their three previous matches against the Dockers.

The game is also set to mark Sam Frost's 50th game milestone in the brown and gold.

Last time we met

Fremantle (108) defeated Hawthorn (46) - Round 17, 2021

Hawthorn took on Fremantle in a classic showdown in Tassie.

Despite Dylan Moore kicking the first goal of the game, the Dockers dominated the first term as the Hawks struggled to move the ball.

But the brown and gold refused to give up, kicking a few goals in the second term to keep the game within reach.

Fremantle however showed composure and held control of the game throughout, going on to win by 62 points.

Despite the loss, Lachlan Bramble - who was playing in just the fourth game of his AFL career - was prolific with 27 disposals and 550 meters gained.

Tom Mitchell, Changkuoth Jiath and Jacob Koschitzke were also dominating figures for the Hawks.

Our last game

Collingwood (72) defeated Hawthorn (68)

The first Sunday of winter produced sloppy conditions with the first half full of unforced errors and missed opportunities.

Collingwood took control early, scoring 43 points from turnovers in the first half to lead by 23 points at the main break. Hawthorn was able to claw back, scoring five consecutive goals to lead after trailing by 30 points.

It went on to become an epic battle between the teams, with the Pies just holding onto their lead to win by four points.

Ned Reeves was back in the side after his shoulder injury in Round 5. Reeves, who won the ruck battle, collected 30 hit-outs in his first game back.

Jai Newcombe had another stand out performance in the rain amassing 24 disposals, 11 tackles and seven clearances. Alongside Newcombe, Tom Mitchell, Mitch Lewis, Blake Hardwick, James Sicily and Lachlan Bramble were pivotal for the side.
