An equal career-high five-goal performance from Mitch Lewis in Hawthorn's win against Adelaide on Sunday has landed him this round's MVP.

The key forward was unstoppable to start the match, reaching the first break with three goals on the board before equalling his personal best of five goals 12 minutes into the second quarter.

By first quarter time his eight disposals were involved in all eight of the Hawks scoring chains, and he led all players with six contested possessions for the match.

He also became the fifth player to record 10 first-half score involvements in any game in 2022, joining Tom Papley, Tom Lynch, Tom Hawkins and Patrick Cripps to share the season record in this category.

Although he had a quieter second half, the impressive opening effort saw him reach a total of 36 goals from 12 games to re-enter the top-10 of this year's Coleman Medal leader board.

Lewis has announced himself as a star of the future in the past four months - he is now ranked number two in the league, sitting behind Charlie Curnow, for average goals per game in 2022.

Hear from Lewis following the win.
