Hawthorn forward Greta Bodey has been sidelined after suffering a concussion late in the game against Adelaide last weekend.

Meantime, Elli Symonds made it through the scrimmage match on managed minutes, while Hannah Looney has undergone surgery on her hamstring, and Grace Baba is making progress on her ankle injury.

High Performance Manager Aaron Kellett provided a detailed update on each of the players below.

Elli Symonds (Foot) – Test

“As I mentioned last week, we played Elli in some managed minutes through the scrimmage on the weekend. She went really well, got through unscathed. Was nice to see her back out on the footy field. We're going to make some decisions sort of at the back end of this week, at the end of our full week of training, to decide sort of the loading progression for her and where that's best placed—whether that's in the AFLW or again through the scrimmage. But so technically she'll be a test for this week, but you know, she got through unscathed, played some played some good footy. So really looking for a step forward for her this week.”

Greta Bodey (Concussion) – Protocols

“Greta was taken from the field in the fourth quarter of the match on the weekend and was assessed post-game and was diagnosed with a concussion. So that means she enters the protocols, so a minimum of 12 days for that. So, we'll obviously step her through that, and her timeline will become apparent as she progresses through the standard return-to-play protocols.”

Hannah Looney (Hamstring) – 11-15 weeks

“Hannah's going in for surgery today to repair that ruptured hamstring tendon, we'll await some feedback on how that surgery went. I think I mentioned last week, that's sort of a 12 to 16 week return to play, so the likelihood of returning before the end of the season is pretty low. But until we've seen how that surgery went and see how she recovers post-surgery, we'll sort of formalise that as the weeks progress.”

Grace Baba (Ankle) – TBC

“I haven't given an update on Grace for a while, so it's nice to nice to talk about her progression. She's had ankle reconstruction surgery, I think I've spoken about that previously, it went really well. She's progressing really, really positively. She's completely weaned off the moonboot, full weight-bearing, she's progressing her calf strength, her range of motion, she's started some balance work. Her early introduction to run drilling is online now, we anticipate she's pretty close to starting her return-to-run progressions. The timeline is still a little unclear, we're pushing towards the back end of the season at the earliest at this point. Hopefully, we'll be able to clarify and formalise that timeline over the next couple of weeks as she steps through some pretty important return-to-play progressions. But couldn't be happier with Grace's progress at this stage, she's been great.”
