Hawthorn is delighted to announce that Bridie Hipwell and Isabelle Porter will be making their AFLW debuts on Sunday when the Hawks take on Richmond at Swinburne Centre Punt Road.

Hipwell was drafted by the Hawks with Pick 10 nationally after impressing across the midfield and forward line for the Sandringham Dragons and Vic Metro. Standing at 174cm, the 18-year-old boasts a powerful right-footed kick and athleticism in all facets of the game.

Porter was recruited by the Hawks after averaging 15.4 disposals, 3.6 marks and 2.8 tackles in their VFLW program earlier this year. The hard-working midfielder formerly captained St Mary’s in the NTFL and spent time with Williamstown in its VFLW program before making the move to Hawthorn.

Hawthorn AFLW Senior Coach Bec Goddard was excited to see what Hipwell and Porter could produce in the brown and gold.

“I’m so excited to unveil two more debutants in Bridie and Issy on Sunday,” Goddard said.

“We have now been able to reward 14 players with an AFLW debut, highlighting the progress of our list in such a short time. Our youth are our future and we’ve seen really promising glimpses of the players Bridie and Issy could be.

“I can’t wait to see them run through the banner in what will mark the start of a really special fortnight recognising and celebrating our AFLW Indigenous community.”

Hawthorn will face Richmond in Round 3 of the AFLW on Sunday, 4.10pm AEST at Swinburne Centre Punt Road Oval.
