The 2022 season saw several Hawks lighting up the stats sheet on a weekly basis.

Here are the Hawks who ranked among the best in the competition in certain statistics for the year.

James Sicily

He has become one of the competition's best interceptors, averaging 8.5 intercept possessions per game (equal third in the league) and 8.6 marks per game (first). The 27-year-old's deadly right boot has been utilised regularly down back, ranking fourth in the league for kicks (averaging 19 per game) and third for metres gained (590.18). In addition, he also finished first for rebound 50s (8.1 per game) and 12th for spoils (6.6 per game).

Mitch Lewis

He averaged 2.5 goals per game – the equal sixth best in the league – alongside Sydney’s Lance Franklin, Giant’s Toby Greene and West Coast’s Josh Kennedy. His goal kicking accuracy of 66.1 per cent was the best in the competition from those who kicked 35 goals or more this season. Lewis produced two career-best performances this year, kicking five goals on two occasions. Luke Breust

The powerhouse small forward finished with 40 goals for the season, landing him the club’s leading goalkicking title for the second consecutive year. It marks the fourth time in five years that Breust has taken out the feat, having also reached the accomplishment in 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022. His 40 goals place him in the top 20 forwards in the competition, sitting just behind Melbourne’s Kysaiah Pickett who finished with 41. It is the most goals Breust has kicked since 2018, when he finished with a career-high 54 for the season. His best game came in Round 18 when he kicked six goals against West Coast – which was an equal career-best performance.

Dylan Moore

Moore’s team-first attitude this season has been evident far and wide. The 23-year-old has laid the fourth most tackles (4.2 per game) of any Hawk this year. The defensive side of his game has flown under the radar, also ranking 10th in the competition for tackles inside 50 (1.6 per game). The youngster laid a career-best eight tackles against the Western Bulldogs in Round 15. After a break-out year in 2021, Moore was a clear brown and gold stand-out again in 2022, averaging ‘elite’ rankings across disposals, kicks, handballs, marks and tackles according to Champion Data.

Ned Reeves

Reeves produced a promising 2022 campaign in the brown and gold, consolidating his position as his side’s key ruckman. He averaged 26.9 hit-outs per game – the 10th most of any player within the league. As for total hit-outs, Reeves also led the charge for the Hawks with 323, ranking him 15th in the competition. It marks an impressive outcome for the young gun who only played 12 games this year after missing several outings due to injury.
