The Box Hill Hawks VFLW side celebrated Bec Neaves’ 100th game in style, once again finishing strong to overcome a goal deficit at three-quarter time and secure a 12-point win over a strong Casey Demons outfit at Casey Fields on Saturday. The final score was 7.6 (48) to 5.6 (36)
The match was tightly contested all day, with neither side able to take full control. Casey held the lead for most of the afternoon and went into the final break ahead, 4.5 (29) to 3.5 (23). Once again, Box Hill’s skill and late-game dominance were on display, booting four final-quarter goals to storm home with a 12-point win.
This was also the moment milestone woman Bec Neaves capped off her 100th game in style, slotting a much-desired goal on the final siren to push the margin into double digits. Jess Matin backed up her three-goal haul from last week with another standout performance, kicking two goals and collecting 20 disposals. Isla Baldwin was also impressive, finishing with 23 touches, forward Nat Exon finished with two goals in what was a strong performance.
The Hawks celebrated Bec Neaves’ 100th game with the win lifting them to a 7-2 record and keeping them equal top of the ladder. They’ll be back in action on Saturday, June 28th, taking on the Collingwood Magpies at home at Box Hill City Oval.
