Hawthorn has finalised its team for the Round 1 match-up with the Brisbane Lions at Brighton Homes Arena.
Plenty of familiar faces are set to take to the field in the Hawks’ first-ever game in Brisbane, including Vice-Captain Eliza West who will play her 50th game at AFLW level.
As announced yesterday, two new faces in Lavinia Cox and Najwa Allen will make their respective league and club debuts.
Hawthorn General Manager of Football Operations Max Bailey said he looked forward to what Cox and Allen can offer in Round 1.
“We drafted Lavinia because of the attributes that she’s got, which we’ve seen glimpses of in the practice matches, and while there’s plenty of development to come, this is a great opportunity for her,” Bailey said.
“Najwa has been a natural leader since she first stepped into the club, a valuable presence both on and off the field. We’re excited by what she brings to our group with her knowledge and experience, and the high standard she sets for herself and those around her.
“We look forward to seeing them both run out in the brown and gold on Sunday.”
