Two Hawks have been recognised for solid campaigns in 2026 with selection in the Smithy’s VFL Team of the Year.

AFL-listed Hawk Henry Hustwaite and Box Hill Captain Stu Horner are the brown and gold's two representatives. 

Horner was named in the side for the first time in his 11 seasons with the Mustangs, listed at full-back and named captain of the league’s finest.  

The 28-year-old suited up in 19 games in which he averaged 19 disposals at 88.2 per cent disposal efficiency, as well as 7.9 intercepts and one memorable defender’s goal against the Giants in Round 14.

AFL-listed Hawk Henry Hustwaite has also been named in the side for a second straight season.

Hustwaite was named on the interchange for the team after 13 stellar games with the Mustangs.

The 22-year-old midfielder averaged 28 disposals, eight clearances and 6.2 tackles from his 11 matches, as well as four goals.
