Two Hawks have been named in the 2026 VFLW Team of the Year, recognised for their strong individual campaigns.

Now an AFLW-listed Hawk, Annabelle Embelton has been recognised for her efforts in Box Hill's backline, while Kayley Kavanagh earned a place in the team for her midfield dominance.

Embelton was named at centre half-back in the side after a strong 2026 campaign, which saw her elevated to Hawthorn’s AFLW list midway through the VFLW season.

The 20-year-old defender played eight games for Box Hill, averaging 18 disposals, 6.4 intercepts and 4.2 marks per match, as well as kicking four goals for the season.

Kavanagh was also named among the competition's best, earning a spot on the interchange.

The 21-year-old joined the brown and gold ahead of the 2026 season after representing West Coast in the AFLW last year. She suited up in 13 matches, averaging 21.5 disposals, 12.2 contested possessions and 8.5 tackles per game, plus five majors to her name in 2026.
