Hawthorn is set to break new ground in their 2019 membership drive by developing a member-exclusive augmented reality feature.

The club is looking to pursue this exciting, new technology as a means of connecting with members across the globe.

Hawthorn will be the first AFL club to explore augmented reality in the Hawks’ official club app with a member-exclusive feature bringing content and offers like never before.

Augmented reality is technology that superimposes a computer-generated image or video on a user's view of the real world, thus providing a composite view.

The new feature will see the likes of Hawthorn Coach Alastair Clarkson appear in fans’ living rooms, creating a new definition to club-supporter interaction.

2019 members will receive this as a part of their member benefits, with the feature set to become available to members at the beginning of December.

Members will be notified of the feature and advised to download the app and login prior to the release date.

This is the second additional feature Hawthorn will release to its fans in 2018, following Sharp Shooter, the club’s gamification feature earlier in the season.
