CARLTON Coach Mick Malthouse has taken a stand against the poor attitude of Chris Yarran last weekend, dropping him for the blockbuster against Hawthorn tonight.
Yarran started as substitute in Carlton’s 5 point loss to Essendon last weekend, and displayed poor body language and attitude towards his coach’s decision.
Despite apologising to his teammates and coaches during the week for his poor attitude, Malthouse made a statement on Thursday night when he omitted the speedster.
Yarran’s omission leaves a big hole in the Carlton side, with his electric pace and foot skills able to break the game often and spark momentum for his side.
His importance on the fast deck at Etihad Stadium can't be underestimated, not to mention his ability to easily outrun opposition players for maximum affect.
So what does that mean for Carlton now?
It is a massive statement by Malthouse, and essentially puts each and every Carlton player on notice no matter the player.
Whether it’s one of the first players picked – like Marc Murphy, Chris Judd and the like, or a player on the fringe like Josh Bootsma and Kane Lucas, a poor attitude will not be tolerated by the coach.
Expect now, to see each and every Carlton player to attack the footy with vigour, with an intensity previously unseen from a side pulling on the navy blue jumper.
Yarran has been replaced in the side by gun midfielder and tagger, Andrew Carrazzo who return from injury while Simon White has been omitted, with Josh Bootsma his replacement.
