Strong VFL form from a pair of Hawthorn youngsters has been rewarded ahead of the side’s clash with Carlton on Saturday.

Ruckman Ned Reeves has been called upon to make his senior debut following a stint of outstanding performances at VFL level, with Damon Greaves also set to take to the AFL stage for the first time this year despite being an inactivated medical sub in Round 7.

Consistently praised by Box Hill Coach Sam Mitchell as a “reliable” ball-user out of the side’s back-half this year, Greaves has found a strong balance between the offensive and defensive sides of his game as he has pressed his claims for a senior call-up.

Tallest Hawk ever set to make his debut

Head of Football Rob McCartney said the club was excited to name two in-form youngsters who are both under the age of 22.

“Reevesy’s is a great story of persistence and hard work,” McCartney said.

“His body of work at VFL level this year has really turned some heads as he’s been able to develop some key parts of his game.

“Greavesy has been thereabouts with selection for the bulk of the season, but has especially pressed his claim over the past couple of weeks.

“We’re really hoping to see a strong bounce back from the boys this weekend.”

The Hawks will face Carlton at 1.45pm this Saturday.
