Hawthorn forward Aine McDonagh has been voted in as the Round 4 MVP following her performance in the Hawks' 59-point loss against Melbourne on Friday night.

McDonagh was the side's sole goalkicker of the night, taking her tally to four for the season - the most of any Hawk.

The 25-year-old has now scored at least one goal in each of her four appearances, highlighting her improvement as a forward.

The goal was also significant in Hawthorn history, as it saw her become the Hawks' all-time leading AFLW goalkicker, overtaking Jess Duffin (seven goals) with her eighth goal of the season.

McDonagh complemented her goal on Friday night with 16 disposals, three marks and five intercept possessions.

Speaking post-game, Hawthorn coach Bec Goddard praised McDonagh's development.

“Aine each week is becoming a much better player,” Goddard said.

“If you consider this time last year, she played two games, like not even that, so what she’s now able to do is pretty incredible.

“She gets up, she gets on with it every week as most Irish players do.”

McDonagh will look to add to her goalkicking tally and help her side get a win on Sunday, with the Hawks set to face Brisbane at Kinetic Stadium (Frankston) at 3.05pm AEST.

Tickets for the game start from just $10 while kids enter for free.
