Hawthorn is proud to unveil its 2025 AFLW Indigenous Guernsey ahead of the league’s Indigenous Round, which commences this weekend.
The 2025 guernsey was designed by proud Noongar and Yamatji man and Hawthorn's Indigenous Player Development Manager Jamie Bennell, who also designed the men’s 2025 Sir Doug Nicholls Round Guernsey.
The Hawk on the front of the guernsey symbolises power and strength with an eye for hunting down prey.
The three circles with Women symbols in the middle of the guernsey represent Hawthorn’s three female Indigenous players (past and current) in Kaitlyn Ashmore, Mattea Breed and Janet Baird, surrounded by family and friends, which is where their journeys started.
The symbol at the bottom of the guernsey is the players that take to the field each week, surrounded by the whole playing list, coaches and football department staff.
‘The Nest’, which is the symbol featured on the back of the guernsey and in the background of the front, represents the family home, surrounded by our staff, volunteers, members and fans, all of which contribute to making our football club whole.
Hawthorn will wear its 2025 AFLW Indigenous Guernsey for the first time this Saturday night against the Western Bulldogs at Whitten Oval, before hosting St Kilda at Cazalys Stadium in Cairns in Round 4.
