Hawthorn defender Emily Everist has inked a contract extension with the Club, keeping her at the Hawks until at least the end of the 2027 season.

Since being drafted to the Hawks with Pick 25 ahead of the Club’s inaugural season, Everist has established herself as one of Hawthorn’s most important key defenders.

In 2025, she averaged 11.6 disposals and 3.4 spoils, whilst going head-to-head with some of the league's most dangerous opposition key forwards and nullifying their impact.

Everist’s best game came in Round 8 against Fremantle, where she recorded a career-high 18 disposals.

She also placed fifth in Hawthorn’s 2025 AFLW best and fairest, backing up a top-10 finish and Competitor Award in 2024.

Hawthorn General Manager of AFLW Keegan Brooksby was thrilled to see Everist re-sign with the brown and gold.

“Emily has been with us since the start of her AFLW journey and it’s been great to see her develop in her time with the Club, as a key member of our defensive group each week," Brooksby said.

“Tasked with matching up some of the best opposition key forwards each week, Emily never shies away from a challenge and played an important role in the team’s back-to-back finals campaigns.

“Finishing in the top five of this year’s best and fairest was a great achievement for her, and signals a bright future in the brown and gold.”
