Star defender Jarman Impey has recommitted to Hawthorn on a three-year deal, ensuring he remains in the brown and gold until at least the end of 2029.

The 30-year-old is putting together a career-best year this season, averaging 23.3 disposals, 7.3 marks and 487.1 metres gained per game.

The proud Yorta Yorta man has been a picture of consistency for the Hawks over his 158 games to date in the brown and gold, after crossing from Port Adelaide at the end of 2017.

He’s placed in the top 10 of Hawthorn’s past three Peter Crimmins Medal counts, including his first career podium finish last season.

Impey remains one of the most respected First Nations players in the league and has led the way in Indigenous culture at Hawthorn, highlighted by designing the 2023 Indigenous Guernsey and captaining the Club during that year’s Sir Doug Nicholls Round.

National List and Recruiting Manager Mark McKenzie was delighted to secure Impey’s services for a further three seasons.

“Jarman’s importance to our Club cannot be overstated - the energy, enthusiasm and leadership he provides our group is enormous,” McKenzie said.

“It’s no surprise that Jarman just keeps getting better, his career-best year ahead of his 31st birthday next month is a result of his continued professionalism and dedication to his craft.

“His experience, composure and line-breaking speed are something we will continue to lean on heavily over the next three years as we continue to push towards our next premiership.”
