Hawthorn Assistant Coach Adem Yze has re-signed with the club until at least the end of 2022.

Yze will return to the position of forwards coach in 2020, although his 2019 role as Head of Match Day Strategy & Opposition will also remain a part of his portfolio.

After a 14-year playing career with Melbourne, Yze joined the Hawks at the beginning of 2012 as a part-time assistant coach.

Having been with the club through a golden era, Yze’s knowledge and experience is invaluable in the Hawks’ pursuit of the club’s next piece of silverware.

GM– Football Graham Wright said the club was extremely excited to maintain Yze on its coaching panel.

“Adem is a highly respected assistant coach and has performed well in any portfolio he’s been assigned,” Wright said.

“He’ll return to coach the forwards next year but will maintain a focus on team strategy that he performed so well in in 2019.”

Sam Mitchell will continue in his role as midfield coach in 2020, while his fellow assistants will take on new portfolios; Chris Newman will look after the defenders following Darren Glass' departure last month, while Scott Burns will take over stoppages from Newman.
