STAR Hawk Jarryd Roughead is already back at the club, just a week after having reconstructive surgery on his injured PCL.

And he’s already walking without the assistance of crutches.

“The first few days initially after surgery you’re just sitting around and not doing much, which has been the case,” the Hawks vice-captain told HawksTV on Tuesday.

“(It was) my first time out to the club yesterday and then I did a little bit this morning which was good.”

“They try to get you to weight-bear as soon as possible, and I’ve got a big brace that I’ve got to wear for the next couple of weeks, so it’s just getting used to that.”

The big forward – who has kicked 491 career goals from his 231 matches - is set to spend four-to-five months on the sidelines.

But he’s hoping he can still have an impact around the group while he recovers.

“When games start, you kind of try to help out the young boys as best as possible,” he said,

“With a youngish forward group, (I’ll be) trying to give some knowledge and advice to those boys.”
