Season summary:

In his 11th season in the brown and gold, Luke Breust finished as the clubs leading goal-kicker, an achievement he previously earned in both 2018 and 2019.

The three-time premiership Hawk booted the 33 goals for the year - an impressive tally considering he missed three games this season.

After injuring his knee in Round 20 against Brisbane, Breust was forced on the sidelines for the reminder of the year.

The veteran forward escaped structural damage to his knee and while he was given every opportunity to prove his fitness ahead of Round 23, he just fell short in the lead up to the match.

Despite the unfortunate end to 2021, Breust has plenty of time to recover in the off-season with the hope of making a return to pre-season season training ahead of the 2022 season.

Best AFL game:

The 30-year-old’s best game of the season came in Round 20 against the Lions when he kicked a team-high three goals, while also finishing with three inside 50s, two goal assists and eight score involvements.
