Hawthorn will take on North Melbourne this Saturday in its first ever match at Blundstone Arena.

The Hobart venue will become the 34th ground at which Hawthorn has played a VFL-AFL game, and just the second time it has played in Tasmania's capital.

The Hawks will be eyeing their third victory in a row, having won against Adelaide and West Coast in recent weeks.

North Melbourne are also coming off some strong momentum having won just their second game of the season last week with an upset win against Richmond.

Hawthorn will be aiming to reach the 100 wins milestone against an opposition VFL-AFL club for the first time, currently sitting on 99 victories against the Kangaroos.

Last time we met

Hawthorn (78) defeated North Melbourne (58) - Round 1, 2022

Hawthorn started its 2022 season off with a bang, defeating North Melbourne by 20 points at the MCG, marking their fifth consecutive Round 1 triumph.

The Hawks overturned a 21-point deficit to run out 11.12 (78) to 8.10 (58) winners in what was a highly entertaining affair at a sun-baked MCG.

Exciting Hawks defender Changkuoth Jiath was arguably best afield gathering 24 disposals, five marks, had nine intercept possessions.

Sicily in his returning game was sublime controlling the Hawks’ defence, he finished with 27 disposals, six marks and 538 metres gained.

Gunston, who also played his first game from a back injury, booted three goals four from 18 disposals, while Mitch Lewis also finished with three.

Our last game

Hawthorn (102) defeated West Coast (77)

The Hawks made it two wins in a row when they took home a 25-point victory against West Coast at the MCG on Sunday.

Luke Breust showed the way with an equal career-best six goals, including a last one late in the last quarter to ice the game.

The Hawks maintained scoreboard control following a seven-goal second quarter, but the home team had to respond several times as West Coast found answering goals to stay in touch.

Josh Ward (34 disposals), Tom Mitchell (33) and Jai Newcombe (28) gave the Hawks ample opportunities to surge forward.

Ward delivered his best AFL game yet in what has been a promising first season finishing with a game-high, and career-best 34 touches which earned him the Rising Star nomination for Round 18.
