75 games at Port Adelaide, and now 75 games at Hawthorn.

That is the rare breakdown that awaits Jarman Impey as he prepares to play his 150th AFL game against Richmond on Sunday.

Taken by Port Adelaide at Pick 21 in the 2013 AFL Draft, Impey spent four years at the Power before he requested a trade to the Hawks ahead of the 2018 season.

Reflecting on the even distribution of his career to date, the 27-year-old said he is grateful for how it has panned out.

"It's a bit weird - 75 each - it's quite bizarre," Impey said.

"I started off at Port, worked very hard and it has been a good journey. Now I'm at this great club and it's my ninth season in the system, so it has gone really quick."

Now in his fifth year in the brown and gold, Impey continues to provide an important presence in Sam Mitchell’s side whether as a defender or further up forward.

Speaking of his fondest memories at Hawthorn, Impey said it is hard to go past his involvement in one of the greatest modern day AFL rivalries.

"I remember my first Easter Monday match, we won by a point," Impey said.

"That always sticks in my mind, it's a great rivalry. It's always pretty special to play in that game with my mates and at this great club."

While Impey has developed his game on-field over the years, he has also developed his leadership off it.

A respected clubman and held in high regard by his teammates, Impey said a role as a mentor or coach would be the perfect fit following his football career.

“I would like to think I’d like to stay in the game,” Impey told Dwayne’s World earlier this year.

“I just find it natural to myself that I'm always helping those around me, especially the younger ones around me, and I do think I’m growing with my football IQ.

“I find myself teaching where to position yourself on the field and off the field as well.

"I always feel as though I’ve got really good feedback, just through my life lessons and from being in the system for a little while.

“I think my transition after my playing days would be a good one to be in the AFL environment.”

Away from the field, Impey passionately supports and advocates within the Indigenous space.

Impey had built a strong connection to his Indigenous roots while at Port Adelaide, before moving back to Victoria to be closer to his family and his hometown of Shepparton.

A proud Yorta Yorta man, he enjoys being able to go out into the community to tell his stories and share his culture, which he believes is a great part of being an AFL footballer.
