Three AFLW Hawks and two Box Hill stars have taken home silverware at the 2022 VFL and VFLW Awards.

Tahlia Fellows was the big winner of the night, taking home the Debbie Lee Rising Star Medal to go with her VFLW Team of the Year selection at half-forward. In a breakout season, the 22-year-old averaged 14.5 disposals to go with 12 majors while representing the Casey Demons.

Fellows was joined in the VFLW Team of the Year by Jenna Richardson at centre half-back and Tamara Luke at full forward.

Richardson impressed in defence for the VFLW Hawks with 12.5 disposals, 3.9 marks and 2.7 tackles from 10 games.

Up the other end, Luke had a dominant season as Hawks skipper, ranking first in the team for total goals (13), marks (56) and hit-outs (179) from her 10 appearances.

In the VFL Team of the Year, Ben Cavarra and Fergus Greene were selected as forward pockets after finishing second and third, respectively, in the VFL’s goalkicking tally. Cavarra was also named captain of the team after averaging 15.2 disposals and kicking 41 goals for the year.

Fellow AFLW Hawks Tamara Smith and Lucy Wales made the VFLW Team of the Year squad of 30, along with Hawthorn VFLW best and fairest Jordan Mifsud.

Damian Mascitti and Callum Porter were both recognised for their efforts in 2022 by being named in the VFL Team of the Year squad of 40.
