Emerging Hawk Connor Macdonald has put pen to paper on a three-year contract extension, keeping him in the brown and gold until at least the end of 2029.
Since making his debut in Round 1, 2022, Macdonald has played 90 of a possible 96 games, highlighting his consistency and reliability.
In 2025, Macdonald featured in 24 games and kicked 22 goals, hitting the scoreboard across 16 matches, including kicking multiple majors five times.
The Doveton product has had a strong year, ranking above average in his position as a medium forward for disposals (14.9 per game), score involvements (5.4 per game), tackles (3 per game) and inside 50s (2.9 per game).
Along with his strong goal sense, Macdonald’s running capacity and ball-winning ability are also key features of his game, highlighted by his career-high 28 disposals against Melbourne in Round 23.
Hawthorn National Recruiting & List Manager Mark McKenzie said Macdonald’s contract extension was a credit to his hard work and improvement since being drafted with Pick 26 in 2021.

“Connor’s consistency in his first four seasons at AFL level has been impressive to watch, at the age of 22 he’s on the cusp of playing his 100th game,” McKenzie said.
“With his footy IQ, running capacity and forward pressure, he’s become a key contributor in our best 23 each week, working tirelessly to put his teammates in scoring positions, or hitting the scoreboard himself regularly.
“With his willingness to continue learning and developing, as I’m sure Hawks fans will agree, we are confident the best of Connor is yet to come.”
