Hawthorn and Essendon haven’t met in AFLW since 2023, with the clubs set to face off at Windy Hill for the first time since the club’s AFL sides last met there in 1986.
Hawthorn has won four of its last five games to sit third on the league ladder at 8-2 for the season, while the Bombers are 14th with three wins and seven losses to date.

Hawthorn (30) defeated by Essendon (49) in Round 1, 2023.
Essendon proved too good for the Hawks in the season opener of 2023, emerging victorious by 19 points at Kinetic Stadium.
The Hawks were able to break the game open in patches, but Essendon came out on top.
Emily Bates was impressive in her first game for the Hawks, collecting 18 disposals and laying 15 tackles.
Áine McDonagh, Bridie Hipwell and Aileen Gilroy all booted a major each, while Tamara Luke was dominant in the ruck contest with 42 hitouts.

Getting to the game
There are numerous ways to access Windy Hill.
For those driving, there is some limited parking available on all of Brewster St, Napier St and Raleigh St. We recommend arriving early to ensure you don't miss out on a carpark close by.
For those utilising public transport, there are train and tram options available.

On the Craigeburn train line, both Essendon Station (550m) and Glenbervie Station (450m) are within walking distance of Windy Hill.
