Hawthorn champion Shaun Burgoyne is set to add yet another accolade to his highly-decorated career this weekend.

When Burgoyne runs out against the Western Bulldogs this Sunday, it will be the 600th combined game between him and his brother Peter.

The clash with the Dogs will be Silk’s 360th AFL appearance, while Peter played 240 matches for Port Adelaide in 13 seasons between 1997 and 2009.

The Burgoyne brothers sit in second place on the all-time list for most games played by a pair of brothers.

Only the Madden brothers, Simon (Essendon, 378 games) and Justin (Essendon/Carlton, 332 games), have combined for more games with 710 matches.

But where the Burgoynes trump the Maddens is in grand final success, with Shaun and Peter winning five flags between them while Simon and Justin won two each.

The Burgoynes, who played together at the Power for nine seasons, are experienced finals campaigners with 52 finals to their name, equal to Collingwood’s Gordon and Syd Coventry.

It is only another famous Collingwood brotherly duo that sits slightly ahead of the Burgoyne’s finals tally, with Harry and Albert playing 53 finals including four premierships alongside each other.

Shaun Burgoyne is the most experienced finals player in the current competition by seven games over Swan Jarrad McVeigh.
