Jarman Impey, Conor Glass and Jack Scrimshaw.

What do these three young defenders have in common?

Well, across each of these players’ respective disposal tallies on Sunday, only one inefficient possession was registered.

With 21 disposals to his name against the Tigers, Impey was the stand-out with his 95.2 per cent efficiency to go with his career-high 10 marks and two running bounces.

Impey has been in a rich vein of form over the past three weeks, with the 23-year-old averaging 20.3 touches, six marks and three tackles per game.

Conor Glass was also impressive with ball in hand across his first senior appearance for the season.

With 13 disposals to his name, the Irishman was able to penetrate the Tigers’ defence at times with his foot skills.

In his first eight games in the brown and gold guernsey this season, Jack Scrimshaw has set a notable standard of efficiency on his 16.1 possessions per game, operating at just shy of 80 per cent.

Only fellow backmen Blake Hardwick (80.8 per cent) and James Sicily (82.2 per cent) are going at better rates among the Hawks squad.

It is a positive sign to take from the Hawks’ loss on Sunday that the next wave of defenders at the club are using the ball so well coming out of the back half.
