HAWTHORN speedster Bradley Hill says this pre-season is probably the best he’s had since being drafted by the club in 2011.

The 22-year-old wingman, who already has three premiership medals to his name, sighted an injury free run as the key to his pre-season improvement.

“I feel like it’s probably been the best pre-season I’ve had," Hill said.

"I haven’t had any injuries which is good and I’ve done most of the pre-season.

“My running’s been good, and then there’s still a few things I‘ve been working on – hopefully I can bring those things out in games this year.”

Hill, who is known for his line-breaking run and carry of the football, said he wanted to improve the contested possession dimension of his game this season.

“I’ve been working at that (winning contested ball) since I’ve been here, and I just want to keep improving in that area,” he said.

“Obviously I want to keep working on my strengths too, and hopefully I can get even better.”

Having enjoyed a consistent run of senior football over the last three years, playing 75 games since making his debut in 2012, Hill said he was also focused on being a leader for some of Hawthorn’s younger players and constantly pushing himself to get better.

“I’m getting a bit older now and for me it’s about working on my leadership too," he said.

“I’m still only 22 years old and I think I’ve got a lot of improvement to go and hopefully I can continue to get better each year.”

The pacy right-footer added that he and the rest of the Hawthorn playing group were looking forward to the start of the season.

“I’ve played the first two NAB Challenge match games which is a good run around to get my match fitness up, and this week we’ve got a pretty strong side," Hill said.

“This is where we sort of get a bit more serious ahead of Round 1, and I’m looking forward to it,” he said.
