AFTER sustaining a knock early against Geelong Cats in Round 1, Ryan Schoenmakers is fully fit and ready for Sunday’s clash with West Coast Eagles.

Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson said Schoenmakers had been hampered by an injury in his side’s 30-point loss.

“He got a knock early which was a little bit unfortunate,” Clarkson told media on Saturday morning.

“We thought he competed pretty well last week but he just didn’t get a lot of the ball and he didn’t put any pressure on the Geelong side in terms of getting scoreboard shots, which all forwards need to do at some point in time.”

Schoenmakers had just two handballs against the Cats, and Clarkson said the key forward would be looking to make amends against the Eagles.

“He would have been a bit disappointed with his output over the game, but he was a little bit sore with a knock he got early and that didn’t help with his movement,” Clarkson said.

“That’s a big part of his game, being able to run hard.

“He’s fully recovered from that now and hopefully he can play well on Sunday.”

Schoenmakers last match against the Eagles – the 2015 grand final – was arguably one of the best of his 96-game career. He had 21 disposals and kicked a goal against the Eagles in the Hawks’ premiership win.
