Aside from this year’s NAB Challenge drubbing, the Hawks last met Brisbane in Round 14 last season at Aurora Stadium in Tasmania.

An inaccurate opening quarter cost the Hawks a bigger lead at quarter time but they soon found their scoring range, kicking 5.1 to 4.3 in the second term to lead by 22 points at the main break.

The second half was all Hawthorn as they piled on 13 goals to seven to run away with a big win, their twelfth in a row.

Hawthorn’s forward line was too dangerous for the Lions defence, managing 38 scoring shots from 56 entries, while the Lions had 25 scoring shots also from 56 entries.

Lance Franklin and Jarryd Roughead were dangerous up forward all game, kicking eight goals between them while Luke Breust and Shane Savage hit the scoreboard with three each as dangerous midfielders/half forwards.

Brad Sewell and Sam Mitchell led the way in the midfield with 27 and 26 disposals respectively and Isaac Smith continued his good form with 21 touches and eight tackles.

For the Lions, Jonathan Brown was their most dangerous forward with four goals and Brent Moloney was their best in the middle with 26 disposals.

Matthew Leuenberger was the dominant ruckman on the ground with 15 possessions and 34 hit outs, helping the Lions to win the clearances 37-44.
