After 168 career matches, Hawthorn favourite son Michael Osborne announced his retirement from the game at the Club's best and fairest on Saturday night.

A player who always amazed with his ability to take a speccy despite being just 178cm, Osborne was a favourite amongst his teammates and fans because of the exciting nature in which he played his footy.

He loved to tackle just as much as he loved to kick a freakish goal and it was that that made him the ultimate team player.

He will be missed but we thank him for the memories he gave us.

Osborne arrived at the Club in 2001 and it took him little time to get fans excited about his propects as he took this great mark over Alan Didak during the Wizard Cup.

He always showed great balance when he had the ball.

Tackling was always part of his game, he was never out of the contest - he loved laying a tackle as much as kicking a freak goal.

He was a favourite amongst his teammates and was always one of the first to celebrate a goal.

One thing fans will miss about him most is his high flying and ability to take a hanger.

Ossie was a key part of the 2008 premiership success.

He loved kicking a goal and always celebrated in style.

He had a knack of always just slipping away from his opposition, no matter how long their arms were.

He ruptured his ACL in 2012 but he left no stone unturned during pre-season to make his return.

He finally made his comeback in Round 4, 2013 and played that game how he did his others, with the determination to tackle and pressure and play for the team.

He played five games in 2013 before playing out the year in the VFL.

There, he helped groom the future of Hawthorn and helped them secure the 2013 VFL Flag.
