Hawthorn VFLW Coach Bec Goddard says her side has blown out the cobwebs and is ready to go ahead of its Round 1 clash against the Western Bulldogs on Sunday.

Geelong proved too strong for the Hawks in the clubs' scratch match last Saturday, but Goddard was adamant that the slow start was due to anxiety after a long hiatus in women's football.

"I think there were a few nerves when we had our hit-out on the weekend," Goddard said.

"But I think we're at the point now that we don't get nervous, we get ready."

Goddard added that a focus for the team this weekend will be to enjoy their time playing competitively again at long last.

"I think we want to have a good time.

"A lot of us haven't played footy for nearly 18 months to two years, so just getting back on the field and enjoying each other's company will be the number one priority."

Led by newly-appointed captain Jess Trend, Hawthorn will take on the Dogs on Sunday February 28 at VU Whitten Oval at 10am.
