Few debutants have made as strong an impression as Denver Grainger-Barras did during his entry onto the AFL stage against GWS in Round 15.

The young defender threw himself at contests and read the play in a manner that belied his level of experience at senior level.

The only downside of his first game in the brown and gold? That he finished the game on the bench with concussion.

But Grainger-Barras has progressed through the protocols, completing training on Tuesday, and now figures as an available option for the match committee to select ahead of the Hawks clash with Fremantle on Saturday.

Footy Flashbacks: A week of anniversaries

Fellow key position player Mitch Lewis also appears on the cusp of a return.

Lewis hasn't played since Round 11 though, over a month ago, so will Alastair Clarkson and his crew deem the 198cm forward ready to come straight back in?

He's hit the scoreboard in each of his eight appearances this year, so the formline is there.

We will wait to see.

Tyler Brockman delivered an eye-catching performance with Box Hill in the side's win over Gold Coast on the weekend, finishing with 16 touches, four tackles and two goals.

He has also put his hand up for consideration.

Ollie Hanrahan is another one who has been thereabouts over the past month.

Following a stand-out fortnight at VFL level, Hanrahan was elevated to the medical sub last week, albeit unused.

Could his zip be injected into the Hawks forwardline this weekend?
