After some strong form in the club’s scrimmage matches in the early stages of the 2020 season, Josh Morris essentially forced the hand of the selection committee to grant him a senior debut in Round 6 against Collingwood. Selected with Pick 57 in the 2019 national draft, Morris showed little fear in his transition into the AFL system, providing a level of physicality and presence not often seen in a player amidst his first year. The South Australian product booted his first goal in his second career game, which saw him crumb a ball at ground level before skilfully snapping it over his shoulder. It is this ability of Morris’ to play both tall and small that should excite Hawks fans in future years.
