The Hawks Museum would like to thank all the visitors who ventured forth during the last five days for one last look at the Club Collection.

Many of these visitors came from interstate and country Victoria.

A number were interested in football history overall, not just Hawthorn’s story, following other clubs and sports too.

They had heard of the Hawks Museum and came to see it before our move to the Kennedy Community Centre.

Countless photos were taken with favourite displays of the brown and gold.

Many stories were heard of favourite players, famous wins and dreaded defeats, and of travelling to other grounds to see their Hawk heroes in action.

Steadfast Hawk fans and Kennedy Club members Lois Willams, Judi Corp and Fiona Henderson were our last visitors to the Hawks Museum at Waverley.

Lois has a very good story to tell.

As a six-year-old girl, she attended the footy at Glenferrie Oval.

She and her father appear in a famous photo of a game against Collingwood in the mid-1950s (The Hard Way, page 71).

She proudly pointed to her well-dressed father, Thomas Livy, who stands in the back row beside his mate Jim Lawrence.

At the time, children were encouraged to move closer to the fence to see the action.

Lois was able to find herself in the photo, too!

The Hawks Museum opened at Waverley Park in December 2008.

We thank our many loyal Friends of the Hawks Museum, the Glenferrie Gold Life Patrons and the Knights of the Hawks Museum for their ongoing support, attendance at our functions, and their generous donations of Hawthorn memorabilia that have enabled the museum to better tell the Hawthorn story.

The Hawks Museum will reopen in its new home at the Kennedy Community Centre.

Keep an eye out for opening dates.
