Hawthorn's AFLW side will play its first practice game of the year when it goes head-to-head with Melbourne at Casey Fields on Saturday afternoon.

With the practice match beginning at 12.30pm AEST, supporters are encouraged to come along and cheer on the brown and gold. 

Please note, there is limited seating and shelter available, so plan accordingly. 

The Casey Fields canteen will also be closed.

Last time we met 

Hawthorn (23) defeated Melbourne (17) in Week 9, 2024 

The Hawks and Dees last clashed at Cazalys Stadium, Cairns, in a seesawing contest.

While Melbourne made pushes throughout the game, the Hawks led at every change to claim their first-ever AFLW win over the Demons.

Hawthorn Vice-Captain Eliza West starred with 25 disposals and five tackles while Jasmine Fleming hit the scoreboard to complement her 23 disposals. 

Prior to this, Hawthorn lost to Melbourne by 59 points in the 2023 season and also suffered defeat in a practice match earlier that year. 

New faces 

Hawthorn fans can expect to see some new faces in action for the practice match. 

Over the off-season, the Hawks acquired Najwa Allen via Adelaide and Keely Coyne as a delisted free agent while Lavinia Cox, Daisy Flockart, Grace Baba, Elli Symonds and Rebecca Clottey arrived at the club via the draft.

2025 fixture 

The Hawks have one more practice game to come against Richmond on Sunday 3 August at IKON Park from 12pm AEST, before Round 1 officially kicks off on Sunday 17 August against Brisbane at Brighton Homes Arena. 

Hawthorn's first home game follows in Round 2 under Saturday night lights against Carlton on Saturday 23 August.
