The Hawks Museum at the Kennedy Community Centre officially opened as of last night.
Hawthorn President Andy Gowers, Ian Dicker, Anne-Marie Pellizzer, and Peter Haby had the honour of cutting the ribbon at the Hawks Museum official opening on Thursday 12 February.
There were many key Hawthorn figures in attendance, from Knights of the Museum donors, Glenferrie Gold Life Patrons and Friends of the Hawks Museum members to key guests and past players such as David Parkin, Garry Young and, Richard Loveridge. MC’s Richard and Matthew Allsop hosted the formalities and speaking on the two panels were Peter Hudson, Peter Knights, Nick Holland and Matt Spangher – all holding the common theme of past players that have returned to the club in an administrative role.
Hawthorn Football Club Director, Anne-Marie Pellizzer gave an overview of the history of the Hawks Museum and unveiled the plaque for the Hawks Museum Office – now known as the Peter Haby Hawks Museum Office, honouring the near half century of work Peter has done in preserving and honouring the history of our Club.
The newly unveiled museum is located at Hawthorn’s new state of the art home and offers an immersive journey through the club’s history, from the premiership cups to interactive exhibits and rare archives. Exhibitions have been carefully curated and will feature rotating displays throughout the year in order to showcase the vast collection.
