What to expect

North Melbourne have endured a less than desirable kick-off to the season, losing to Fremantle in Round 1 before a loss to Brisbane last week.

Probably the most damning number on the Roos’ opening fortnight is 248 – the amount of points that have been scored against them.

They have proved to be the easiest side to score against by some way so far this year, a fact they will be looking to change this weekend.

Brad Scott’s men have also struggled to score in the first two rounds, recording the least forward 50 entries of any side in the competition.

Another focus the Roos would have entering Round 3 would be a decrease in their opposition’s ability to score from stoppage after they conceded 43 points from centre bounces against the Lions.

Finishing ninth in 2018 and with numerous strong recruits coming on board since then, North Melbourne would rightfully have confidence that they can turn their poor start around.

The Roos will be determined to post their first win of the season on Sunday.

Jamie Macmillan is a man that has consistently gone under the radar in his 10 seasons at North Melbourne. But inside the four walls of the football club, Macmillan is regarded in an extremely high regard, illustrated by his presence in the Roos leadership group since 2014. Averaging a career-high 28.5 disposals through the first two rounds, the 27-year-old has started the year in career-best form and sits second to James Sicily for rebound 50 numbers league-wide. The Kangaroos love getting the ball in the defender’s hands, so the Hawks will be hoping his form eases this Sunday.
