Hawthorn has made a late change ahead of its Round 3 clash with North Melbourne on Sunday.

Forward Jarryd Roughead sustained a corked thigh at the Hawks training session on Saturday, making way for Dylan Moore to make his debut in the brown and gold.

Moore earns his place in the side after a strong pre-season, where he proved one of the club’s top-end endurance runners.

Since being taken with Pick 67 in the 2017 national draft, the 19-year-old has shown a potency around goals whilst also being able to go through the midfield.

The Eastern Ranges product announced himself to the Hawthorn faithful in his first year at the club after starring for Box Hill in its successful finals campaign.

Moore kicked four goals against Williamstown in the Hawks preliminary final, before booting another three against Casey to earn himself a VFL premiership medallion.

Earlier in the year, Hawthorn Physical Performance Manager Luke Boyd nominated Moore as one of the summer’s stand-outs on the back of his relentless training standards.

“Moorey has had an excellent preparation to the season,” Boyd said.

“He has been one of our most consistent trainers - he hasn’t missed a training session up to this point, which, for a second-year player, that’s really rare and really impressive.

“His endurance is his weapon as an athlete and he has been consistently up in the top two or three in all of our running blocks.”
