Hawthorn forward Jack Gunston has accepted the criticism that has come the club's way after its 61-point loss to Geelong on Friday night, describing the performance as being an un-Hawthorn-like at times.

Gunston said the group had had a stern review of the loss but also stressed the importance of moving on from the disappointing effort.

"I think from the moment we walked off the field, we knew there was going to be a lot of clips, especially from the second half, that we didn't like and isn't Hawthorn-like," the forward said.

"Luckily, we have a quick turnaround so we can't dwell on it too much but we have to implement on some things tomorrow at training and then get ready for the Tigers."

A Frosty reception but Sam doesn't give up on his way to earning the Round 2 MVP

The 2018 All Australian said the six-day break between the Cats clash and the meeting with Richmond this Thursday night was a blessing in disguise.

"Anytime you lose a game, you love a six-day break to get back out there and redeem yourself.

"We're fortunate we've got this period to focus on the Tigers.

"It's not going to be easy though, we have to fix a few things and, if we don't, we might see the same result."

After the Hawks were soundly beaten in the midfield battle against the Cats, Gunston said he was hoping good news was on its way for the Hawks midfield stocks.

Asked if on-baller Jaeger O'Meara was a chance to suit up against the Tigers, Gunston sounded optmistic.

"Hopefully!

"I'd love to see him out there, he's obviously got to train tomorrow.

"We need him out there, he is a quality player and he just adds that extra grunt to the midfield so I'm hoping he's out there."
