Although the result against Geelong on Friday night was less than ideal, a positive to come from the match for Hawthorn was there were no injury concerns.

As the Hawks now look ahead to its meeting with Richmond on Thursday night, the side will also be hopeful of regaining midfielder Jaeger O’Meara.

Physical Performance Manager Luke Boyd said he was optimistic of the explosive midfielder's chance of a return against the Tigers.

"Unfortunately we weren't able to get Jaeger up for last week's game - that was more of a medical decision than anything fitness-related," Boyd said.

"He's actually had a really good block of work albeit not being able to join in the contact component of our training.

"The plan this week is to get him back into some contact work which will hopefully see him available to play on Thursday night."

Hawks star Jack Gunston has conceded last Friday night's performance does not sit comfortably with the playing group

Meanwhile Daniel Howe is continuing to work through his recover from surgery on his plantar fascia in March.

Boyd said Howe is running currently, with the medical staff set to soon ascertain the timing of his transition back into the skills program.

"Obviously, Dan had that surgery prior to the shutdown period.

"He has had a period of rest over that period and then we've slowly started to increase his running.

"We are going quite cautiously with this, given it's around the foot, and we certainly don't want to have any secondary issues."

In other injury news, Jarman Impey is continuing to look strong on the track as he nears return from a knee reconstruction, while youngster Will Golds ticked off an exciting milestone in his ACL recovery as he returned to running on the Alter G machine on Monday.
