Hawthorn forward Calsher Dear has been ruled out of Friday night's Semi Final clash against Adelaide after sustaining a hamstring injury in the club's 19-point Elimination Final win over GWS.
After the 20-year-old was subbed out of Saturday's game, subsequent scans showed a "low to moderate" hamstring strain, according to High Performance Manager Peter Burge.
Dear will join Harry Morrison on the sidelines for Friday night's game, with Morrison unfortunately being ruled out of the season due to his quad injury.
Defender Noah Mraz is also still managing his hamstring injury and will miss Box Hill's Preliminary Final battle with Footscray on Saturday.
Burge provided an update on Dear, Morrison and Mraz, as well as shining a light on Finn Maginness and Will Day's recoveries.
Noah Mraz - Hamstring (1 week)
"Noah's doing really, really well. He's going to return to skills training during the week, but we are going to take another week with him. We'd like to get some more football sessions together before we return to play, so reliant on the VFL result on the weekend, we'll determine his availability next week. But he's made great progression as a first-year player, and we're going to do the right thing by him and continue the process of back to football this week and return to play next week."
Calsher Dear - Hamstring (TBC)
“Not the news we were hoping for, but he’s had an incident. He was running at speed and just noticed a tightening sensation. But we subbed him out during the third quarter, and we’ve since had a scan today, which has shown he's got a low to moderate-grade hamstring injury, which we need to put him into a very short rehab phase. He'll miss the game this weekend, and we'll need to reassess again for next week. He's certainly not ruled out of the season, obviously depending on how deep we can continue to go, but he won't be playing this week, and we'll progress back into running this week. It's worth noting too that Calsher's been on a heavily modified program this year, given the stress fracture he started with at the start of the year. He's a second-year player, but he has been pretty much doing first-year player loads in terms of his training. With a long career ahead of him, we need to keep building his conditioning and adapting to football and high-intensity football, and when you play finals footy, it's at another level. So unfortunately, he's not playing this week, but we'll get him back into a running program and hopefully see him again before the end of the season."
Harry Morrison - Quad (Season)
"Harry's been working through rehab with his quad strain, and it's been really stubborn and really slow, so we haven't been able to make any significant progress. We felt we were slowly making progress. On the weekend, we were just trying to step it up a notch in terms of speed and kicking, and he had a little incident in the session, unfortunately, during the weekend, which means now that it's put him out for the rest of the season, and really, it has just told us that we needed more time. We were trying to get to a point where we could get him back into training, but we didn't quite make it, unfortunately, and he's now finished for the year."
Finn Maginness - Kidney (Season)
"Finn's going great. He's doing some great conditioning, he's running. He came up to Sydney with the team, and we went to an athletics track on the Saturday morning and did some interval training and the stuff he's really, really good at, so he's training and exercising and getting back into some conditioning, which is good, so it's really good news for him."
Will Day - Foot (Season)
"He's going really well. He's progressed his stair walking and other strength work and conditioning. We're now looking at returning to the AlterG treadmill next week, and then that will start the journey into his off-season program. Having him around the group in Sydney, as well as from a leadership perspective, was just awesome. On the bench and on game day, his feedback and his leadership are really valuable for us."

Burge also touched on the return of Josh Weddle, highlighting his positive influence in the Elimination Final victory.
"It was great to see him back out there," Burge said.
"It was a seamless transition of playing a half at Box Hill, back into the AFL team, stepping up and playing a full game of footy at a completely different intensity.
"He handled it beautifully.
"We know Josh is a really good athlete, but he's no different to anyone else, when you jump in intensity, there is a step up to make, particularly after being out for such a long period of time, but he worked really hard, and it was a really good result.
"He's recovering from the weekend, and we expect him to have a light week and be ready to go on Friday night."
