Aileen Gilroy and Mackenzie Eardley will need to prove their fitness ahead of the Hawks Round 6 meeting with Collingwood this weekend.
High Performance Manager Aaron Kellett said the duo are a chance to take to the field against Collingwood, provided they get through training on Thursday.
Kellett also provided an update on Kaitlyn Ashmore and Najwa Allen, one of whom is progressing ahead of their anticipated rehab schedule.
Aileen Gilroy (Hamstring) – Test
“We had a very productive few weeks on the track with Gilly and towards the end of the week we felt that we just hadn’t squared away the last few bits of return to play that we were hoping for. We definitely erred on the side of conservative side, given how important she is for our set up. She’s had a full training session on the track today and we’ve squared away pretty much the last parts of that and we’ll aim to full train on Thursday. So she’s technically a test and we anticipate at this stage that she’s very much on track for the weekend.”
Mackenzie Eardley (Knee) – Test
“Mack had a bit of a jar to her knee, was a bit hard off the vision to understand exactly what happened because it happened right at the end of the game. We’ve scanned that, she’s tweaked an old MCL injury, very low-grade, that doesn’t require any intervention, we’re just going to treat that clinically but she’s obviously a bit sore after the game. We’ve recovered her for the first few days of this week and we’ll aim to full train Thursday and she’ll essentially be a test for availability this weekend.”
Kaitlyn Ashmore (Hamstring) – 2-3 weeks
“Kashy is tracking really well, we’ve bought the timeline in by about a week, at its earliest, it’s probably about two weeks, potentially out to three, pending progression through the last parts of her return to play. She’s back running, back doing some change of direction and definitely working through her strength progressions, so she’s tracking really, really well.”
Najwa Allen (Hamstring) – 4-6 weeks
“Naj is going very well, similar stage of her running and strength progressions, but it’s a slightly more significant injury than Kashy’s and being a recurrence, we’ll aim to be a little more conservative, but four to six weeks for her at this point. But Naj is working really, really well at the minute.”
