Hawthorn midfielder Will Day will make his return through the VFL on Friday night when Box Hill faces Williamstown at DSV Stadium.
The 24-year-old has not played football since Round 21 in 2025, following a foot injury at the end of that year, and then a shoulder injury at the start of 2026.
Day joins Mabior Chol and Conor Nash in being available for selection this week, with Chol recovering from a hamstring injury sustained in Gather Round and Nash exiting concussion protocols following delayed symptoms after Round 9 in Perth.
Jack Gunston remains a test to face Kuwarna on Thursday night in Launceston as he recovers from a foot injury.
Unfortunately, defender James Blanck has been added to the injury list after sustaining a hamstring injury during Box Hill's one-point win over Richmond on Saturday at Box Hill City Oval.
Tom Barrass also remains on the sidelines following his hamstring injury a fortnight ago.
Hawthorn High Performance Manager Peter Burge provided an update on each player below.
Mabior Chol (hamstring), Will Day (shoulder) and Conor Nash (concussion) - Available
"Yeah, fantastic news. Will Day will be playing in the VFL. Conor Nash has gone through the concussion protocols and will be available this week. Mabior's been training for over a week now with the group. He completed full training today and is available."
Jack Gunston (foot) - Test
"Jack got moving on Monday, and we did some straight-line running outside. He's done some more running today. We're going to do another session tomorrow, so we'll make a call on his availability after tomorrow's session."
Tom Barrass (hamstring) - 2-4 weeks
"He's progressing really well. He's running around the 70% mark. He's had some good sessions over the last two to three sessions on track. We've listed him still as either Round 13 or Round 15 after the bye return, but it's progressing really well, and the next week will determine which game we'll return at."
James Blanck (hamstring) - 4 weeks
"Yeah, really unfortunate and frustrating. Blanck's had a number of interruptions recently. He had a shoulder injury recently after managing a long-term groin issue earlier in the season. So he came back and got some game time going again this week, but then he had a lunging type incident accelerating and ust felt some discomfort with his hamstring, and subsequent scans show he's got a hamstring strain. It'll be a four-week injury, so the aim is to return at Round 15 (VFL Round 13) after the bye, and then we'll look to get some continuity and some momentum in the last part of the season."
